GRADUATION QUALIFYING EXAM (GQE)

   

The class of 2011 is required to pass the GQE to receive a diploma. A GQE retest will be given to seniors who have not passed the GQE on September 14, 15, & 16 and another opportunity is offered in the spring on March 8, 9, & 10. Please avoid scheduling appointments or trips on these dates. We are not allowed to give make-up tests.

THREE WAYS TO EARN A DIPLOMA
   
1.Complete the CORE 40 requirements for your class with a grade of “C” or higher in the directed and elective CORE 40 classes and either or;
2.Meet the minimum graduation requirements for your class and pass the GQE in English and mathematics or;
3.For students that do not pass the GQE, they need to qualify for the Appeal Process which consists of the following:
   
 
  • Participate in three remediation sessions with 75% attendance at each
   
  • Take the GQE every time it is offered
   
  •  Maintain 95% attendance throughout your high school career
   
  •  Maintain a “C” average in the non-elective courses required for graduation
   
  •  Demonstrate with teacher documentation capability of “C” average work
   
  • Complete all other requirements for a high school diploma.
   
END OF COURSE ASSESSMENT (ECA)
   
The class of 2012 and beyond is required to pass the ECA for Algebra I and English 10 to receive a diploma. Freshmen will take the Algebra I ECA in May and Sophomores will take the English 10 ECA in May as well. The ECA retest will be given in December and May. Please pay close attention to the specific dates when the tests will be administered to ensure that you avoid scheduling appointments or trips on these dates.

CERTIFICATE OF COURSE COMPLETION
   
Seniors who have satisfactorily completed all course requirements and have attended a minimum of seven (7) semesters but have not passed the GQE will receive a Certificate of Course Completion.
